Overview Introduction

Sub-users allow you to create separate credentials for team members, applications, or projects. Each sub-user gets their own username/password and can have individual bandwidth allocations.

Step 1 What Are Sub-Users?

Sub-users are separate proxy accounts linked to your main account. Key benefits:

  • Unique credentials for each team member or project
  • Individual bandwidth tracking per sub-user
  • Revoke access without changing your main credentials
  • Organize usage by client, project, or department

Step 2 Creating a Sub-User

To create a new sub-user:

πŸ’‘
Tip: Use descriptive labels like "client-acme-corp" or "scraping-project-1" to easily identify sub-users later.
  1. Navigate to Accounts Tab

In the Residential Proxies page, click on the "Accounts" tab.

  2. Click "Add Sub-User"

Click the button to open the creation form.

  3. Enter Details

Provide a label (for your reference) and optionally allocate bandwidth.

  4. Save

The system will generate a unique username and password automatically.

Step 3 Managing Bandwidth Allocation

You can allocate bandwidth from your main balance to sub-users:

  • Shared Pool: Sub-users draw from your main balance (default)
  • Allocated: Assign specific GB limits to individual sub-users

Sub-users cannot exceed their allocation, protecting your overall bandwidth.

⚠️
Warning: Bandwidth allocated to sub-users is deducted from your main balance. Make sure you have enough bandwidth before allocating.

Step 4 Viewing Sub-User Credentials

Each sub-user has unique credentials:

  • Username: Automatically generated (cannot be changed)
  • Password: Can be rotated at any time

Click the copy icon to copy credentials, or use the menu to rotate the password.

Step 5 Rotating Sub-User Passwords

To rotate a sub-user's password:

  1. Find the sub-user in the list
  2. Click the menu icon (three dots)
  3. Select "Rotate Password"
  4. Confirm the action

The old password will immediately stop working.

ℹ️
Note: After rotating a password, you'll need to update the credentials in any applications using that sub-user.

Step 6 Deactivating Sub-Users

To temporarily or permanently disable a sub-user:

  1. Find the sub-user in the list
  2. Toggle the "Active" switch to off, or
  3. Click the menu and select "Delete"

Deactivated sub-users cannot authenticate but can be reactivated. Deleted sub-users are permanent.

⚠️
Warning: Deleting a sub-user cannot be undone. Consider deactivating first if you might need the account later.

Step 7 Sub-User Usage in Endpoints

Sub-users connect using the same servers as your main account, just with their own credentials:

BASH
# Main account
curl -x http://resi.fusionproxy.net:12286 -U "main_username:main_password" ipinfo.io

# Sub-user account
curl -x http://resi.fusionproxy.net:12286 -U "sub_username:sub_password" ipinfo.io
πŸ’‘
Tip: All proxy features (geo-targeting, session types, protocols) work identically for sub-users.

Summary Conclusion

Sub-users provide a secure and organized way to share proxy access across your team or projects. Use them to maintain security, track usage per project, and simplify access management.
